Kindness in Crafting and Blessings in Life~

Good morning friends,
I sat down this weekend after a baptism I attended and was
digging through old supplies from companies I worked for in the past
I was feeling soft and nostalgic and ran across this Kanban goodness.
I decided to make this card.
When I begin crafting I ran across amazingly KIND people and I ran
across amazingly CRUEL people- some that welcomed me with open arms
and some that ridiculed and were beyond mean to me.
I think it really shaped the kind of crafter I wanted to be.
Always understanding and uplifting of others no matter how small the project
or how new the crafter. You know it all comes from the heart and it inspired me
to make this card. One simple word that means so much- KINDNESS.
When I see projects I just see the love and joy in the hands-
sometimes it doesn't have to be on the cover of the next magazine
that is dying out- sometimes it's just that small touch and smile when you
open it up and see that someone took the time to make it...
just for YOU. I would encourage you to leave some kindness today.
This card is going to be left at my local library for a stranger to find and use.

I also snapped a couple photos of a real southern baptism we
attended this weekend of my friend Melody's and Daniels son.
Never been to a river baptism- it was beautiful.
Anything with family- can't miss it.
Hope you have a wonderful Monday- full of kindness and love.
Thanks for stopping by my friends! :)

~Losing Mobility And Making It Happen- In PINK!~

Ok a personal story today my friends! :)

Most of you all know I use a wheelchair 50% of the time
probably closer to 75% now...I mean I can get around but anything
beyond the basic short walk is to unbearable to handle.
The pain I rarely talk about is sometimes so overwhelming I cannot
face the day or night knowing it just isn't going to end anytime soon.

We have been wanting an electric wheelchair for a long time now
but just can't afford it. I am blessed enough to have incredible
boys who don't mind pushing mom around in her regular wheelchair,
so it wasn't a top priority, but I long to be able to be more independent
and free spirited as I was for so long.

About a month ago a friend who inherited this sweet little ride
offered it up to me for a mere 50.00! I felt bad so I offered 100.00
and took it still feeling guilty.
But the batteries were dead so it was a deal for both of us
I suppose. I mean seriously I have amazing friends!!

After a hunt for batteries and waiting until payday to get them
it runs like a charm minus one electrical hiccup  it has been a godsend.
I still don't have a lift for my truck but the boys hoist it in and out...
as long as I have two of them with me for now I am good.
BUT we will be hunting a lift soon- waiting for payday of course and
to find one that just snaps into my hitch and is manual.

Anyways yesterday I went into town and rode into Walmart- which
of course I can't go alone but I took my strong boys.
We picked up some paint! :)

That's right- pretty PINK Paint to paint the red away! TOO cool right?
I cannot wait for it to set and dry- I feel like a coat of glitter is going to happen
in the very near future!!

You know these last couple years have been hard ones.
While I am incredibly blessed with AMAZING friends and family
it's hard to ignore the loss of mobility and the lack of independence.
It takes a toll on me mostly mentally, while I have become accustomed to
daily pain and limited activities, I have not quite adjusted to
my loss of independence.
I think I tried to regain some of it with surrounding myself
with people, but that clearly wasn't me. I found I needed those
close friends I could trust and who honored me as much as I
honored them. I realized it was more about changing my way
of thinking and counting my blessings and respecting myself
and my family.
Accepting my disability and gathering those who appreciate
that a person can be broken and a very different idea of amazing.

I definitely take joy in the little things...like my friends Felicia and Daniel
who gave me this chair, and my pretty can of PINK paint,
and all the girls who get giddy along side me at the thought of my
new PINK wheels!

So this weekend I appreciate my amazing pink blessings
and realize life is a roller coaster but I am so very VERY
blessed to have my favorite people raising their hands and
screaming with me all the way until the ride stops!

Have a beautifully PINK day! I will be sharing the end project very soon!

~Last Week Of School~

Good morning!
Seriously could the last week of school be any more hectic?? I mean
we are MID baseball season plus the last week of school and I am swamped! LOL

I keep wanting to sit down and craft but it escapes me!!
So I thought I would share a few photos from my week instead! :)

Yesterday we planted my garden- yes it is late but the man
at the garden center said everyone's is because it has been horrible weather.
So I am happy it's in! :)
Saturday night I got all gussied up for the theater...
Me and 4 of the best gals I know went to see SPANK!

If you don't mind humor- crude...it was pretty much the best thing I have  ever
seen in my entire life! Plus these gals made it so much fun!
I LOVE this and them. Next to meeting Jenny Lawson this was the best.
Bounce back to last-night when my boy graduated 5th grade with TOP HONORS!
I mean he blew my mind! He won medals and awards in so many things
LOVE this kid so much-
Skip back to Sunday and we had a wonderful birthday party for our
dear friends the Close Family- OMG it was the best time I have had in ages!
We all played (except me the shutterbug) seriously the best.

Oh and Monday I went to take photos of the Dragons Team!
I am loving taking sports photos.

I mean you can see why crafting has not happened- it has been
one hell of a week in the Hobbs home- Pictures over 2500!
Activities and games- love me some May!

Have a beautiful day- I am off to my son's field trip- good times!!!!! :)

~Scrapbooking: What It Means To Me- Headed Forward And Looking Back~

Good morning friends,

When I first became a scrapbooker it was a HUGE no no
to scrapbook the pain, abuse, guilt, and anything not pretty in life.
Of course not being one to follow protocol I basically gave the finger to
everyone who told me my work was not good enough and too taboo
and scrapbooked whatever was in my mind.

It was the single best move for therapy in my life I can think of.
That behind writing a "book" of all my memories of abuse and
sending it to everyone I knew so I would not hide behind those secrets anymore.

These pages brought back many memories so I thought
I would share with you today instead of my normal new projects. :)
I was cleaning up my computer this week and ran across these
old layouts from 2011.

This was a layout about the book I wrote purging myself of my abuse.

And this was a layout to remember I am in fact strong and it's ok to
be a little crazy too! LOL The whole layout sort of is ME.

The words seen here "It's never really safe to be nostalgic about something
until you're absolutely sure there's no chance of it coming back" was a
constant reminder to myself that it's ok to look back at your family and the
life you had- because there is no chance of it coming back...I am surrounded by
good now and all that pain and abuse is behind me....it's ok to look back but don't get
sucked back into that revolving door of pain.

I am super thankful for what scrapbooking has done for my life.
Thas is scrapbooking to me!
