~Tutorial- Creating Your Custom SVG File~

Good morning my crafty friends, 

What an amazing weekend at the DEMO DERBY! :) 

Hope your weekend went well. 

Sunday we chilled all day and I sat down to make a card for 

my son's baseball coach and I could not find what I wanted to create, 

so I decided to just make my own SVG file and cut it on my 

awesome Silhouette Cameo machine!

Here is the finished card with our team logo, fun times right?

While I was creating it I thought I would just take photos and share

how to make your own SIMPLE SVG from a simple line drawing file. 

(This is not advanced just a beginners tutorial)

I began with the team logo (for personal use only) and opened it in 

INKSCAPE - a free program. 

I found the JPEG I planned on using (Clogo) and clicked it. 

Once it popped up on the Inkscape screen I clicked it (selected it)

and it created a box around it. 

I then clicked the toolbar "PATH".

Then clicked "TRACE BITMAP". This grabs the simple line image. 

After that I selected "UPDATE" this will actually create your cut lines 

for your SVG. If it is spotty or you have issues you will see it in the update preview. 

If you have too many spots etc...you can play with the OPTIONS and click UPDATE again. 

When you are satisfied drag the image away and you will 

see the BLACK cut file and beneath it is the original file. 

I just delete the original and keep the black one. 

Then click FILE in the toolbar and SAVE AS.

Save as PLAIN SVG then you can use it in your Silhouette software. 

And that's it! :) I cut my card and it's ready to go. 

Easy peasy right?

Ok I am off to create today and catch up from the fun weekend. 

The boys LOVED the Demo Derby and we had ice cream after,

I can't think of a more amazing time! :)

~Baby Boy Bib Overall Acrylic Album~

Good morning my friends,

This morning I have a fun new project to share, one of the new Clear

Scraps 2012 release designs. A Baby Boy Overall Bib Album! :)

It is so cute and a perfect pair for the Momenta papers I used.

I really enjoyed making the little pockets and cuffs for the cover.

I also added some glitz and glam.

You can see the pages are clear, so I added the Viva Decor Pearl Pen

around the outline to make it pop.

It has room for at least 8-20 photos depending on size.

Sure makes me want to do more albums!

And for the back I added a pocket, then slipped a little

rattle inside just like a little boy would do. :)

Isn't this a fun album?

~Pocketful Of Memories~

Good morning my friends,

I told y'all I have been crafting this week and one of my projects

is for a friend of mine (Lindy), who is an amazing inspiration to me,

as is her daughter who has helped her mom from the first day.

I have only known her about a year but she has really touched my life.

When Lindy asked me to make a page for her sister in law of course I said YES.

Lindy is a Cancer survivor and she is full of life.

I am always amazed by the people I meet. Those who show you what

is really important in life and just how much surviving really means.

I think that must be our common bond: survival.

She was featured in the Martina McBride video, you can read her

amazing story here: Lindy's Story

It's always hard to figure out what to do on a page you make for someone else

but I had an idea of exactly what I wanted to do for this special page.

Lindy is full is spunk and amazing love...I wanted to make it a heartfelt page

full of bling and pearls. The pocket is filled with photos and newspaper

clippings, there were so many I wanted a nice place to put them

without making 6 or 7 actual pages so I came up with the pocket.

As I approach 40 I am meeting the most amazing people.

This was another way crafting has helped me to reach out

to people who really make a difference in this world~

For this project I used:

Clear Scraps 12X12 acrylic sheet, KanBan Crafts, Beacon 3N1, Viva Decor Pearl Pens,

Momenta alphas, Clearsnap Smooch Spritz on the alphas, vintage lace, stickles.

~More Fun Photo Props~

Good morning my crafty friends!

I hope your Christmas was wonderful.

Ours was simple but one of the best holidays we have had

in Tennessee. Wonderful family and friend time.

We delivered our annual plates of goodies, and Hayley gave us some Rum Cake

(I had never had rum cake before). Then we had pop in company

on Christmas Eve, and our friends came over for karaoke on

Christmas Day. It was so nice to relax and spend time with everyone.

I have been sneaking into my craft room all week and trying to

sneak in projects one by one. This is a requested Cake Prop I made.

The last cake I made was one layer, but after it was shown on

my blog I had a request for a 2 layer cake, so I made one! :)

I just realized I photographed this cake backwards LOL

I grabbed myself a #1 from the store and coated it in glitter,

then snapped pictures before shipping it off. LOL

These photo props are so much fun!

Oh and this is 100% Momenta too. I wanted to put a bunch of flowers

all around but ran out of time, I think the next paper cake

will be covered in flowers. Does anyone want to come make 40 for me? hahaha

~Summer ice Cream Fun~

Good morning my friends,

I did get a small window to create this weekend,

and what I played with was McGill punches and Momenta paper!

I made this cute little ice cream cone card.

I wanted to sit down and play more but got busy with the fam~

Well worth it though!! :) Now today I will have a chance to play

while the kids are at school.

I used the Let's Party Pyramid Pad from Momenta for the card/cones,

and McGill Punch for the Cones, then I used Beacon Fabri-Tac for the

assembly and Glue Arts Raise'Ns for the dimension!

Don't forget about the CRICUT MACHINE GIVEAWAY I have going

on in August for my blog friends!!

~Scrapping Vintage Style Mini Albums~

Good morning my crafty friends!

I have alot of pictures to share today from this album I just made,

and yes it is all about my chickens! LOL

Keep in mind that this week my in laws sent me some pictures,

of Andrew's grandfather raising chickens, they even sent a postcard

that the family had made years ago of their prize winning chicken!

I used a Clear Scraps chipboard album (did you know they make chipboard too?).

And the April Kit from Tally Scrapper.

I loved the vintage look, and the travel-ish papers were a great metaphor

for our journey together raising our chickens.

I have so many chicken pics, it was fun to scrap then in an album.

I might even send this album to my in laws as a memento of their son and

grandson's interests. Not sure yet but it's a fun album.

I could not resist adding some romance to this page, I am a goof but

the babies just met the older hens in this picture and it was so sweet.

I used alot of vintage lace too! I need to find a good thrift shop for more!

And of course I added *LOVE* to this page, the little baby chicks....

it's so sweet their first outdoor experience.

They just huddle together and peep LOL

And i had to end the album with a GIANT picture (8X10 cut down)

of EGGS! of course! LOL

Also on the back side I added alot of journaling about out chickens.

It seems like such a small silly thing to scrap but it's been done for

hundreds of years and I think it's fun to have a memory on paper.

When my in laws sent me the vintage pictures it really set me to

scrapping chickens photos!!

I am terrified to scrap the vintage pictures! LOL

I am going to have to have them reprinted and scrap them by our pictures!

Ok that's it for me today, yesterday was crazy wicked storm day and today

we clean up the damage! And I take a break LOL
